About us:

The Procurement Team, part of the Finance Services Department at UWE, is seeking a self-motivated and highly organised individual to carry out a range of procurement and contract activities. 

The Procurement Team are responsible for circa £120million non-pay expenditure across the University. This post will contribute to making the procurement team integral in being a strategic function across the University and to deliver Value for Money outcomes for both capital and revenue expenditure.

You could be responsible for a wide range of procurement activities including but not limited to IT software and hardware, equipment including AV, hard and soft FM and Estates, HR services and student support and recruitment services. This will include interpretation of technical specifications, management of stakeholders, management of the various types of contacts and tenders including the use of our electronic tender platform, and contract/supplier management.

You will work as part of a small team, being responsible for some line management and development of team members, as well as close working with other teams within Finance to further develop policies and procedures, including Procure to Pay (P2P).

About you:

The role requires meticulous record-keeping and attention to detail, and a broad understanding of public sector sourcing arrangements.

The successful candidate will be educated to degree level or equivalent and ideally be a member of the CIPS. With experience in complex procurements and problem solving, you will be decisive, focused on priorities and goal driven. You will develop strong strategic relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders to maximise opportunities to collaborate, achieve efficiencies, improve capability and promote the procurement profession.

Experience of managing above and below PCR threshold tender processes; sourcing products and services; use of framework agreements; and achieving value for money is essential, as is experience in contract negotiation. Previous experience of providing procurement training to a range of stakeholders would be an advantage.
