We have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced and driven Supply Chain Manager to join our client, a Global Manufacturer of Bespoke Engineered Products based in Yorkshire.

The business competes by ensuring safety and quality are key cornerstones whilst maintaining a market leading, customer satisfaction standard, as such our supply chain function is fundamental to the ongoing success and growth of our business.

The role of Supply Chain Manager will report directly to the Director of Procurement in a critical position that is recognised across the wider Corporation. You will have an extensive remit with responsibility across all the Logistics Function from Production/Material Planning through to Distribution.  The successful candidate will lead the Departmental Improvement Strategy whilst covering the day-to-day responsibilities of a busy manufacturing environment. This demanding role requires an operational individual who communicates effectively at all levels both internally and externally. A strong leader with a proven track record in managing a team and can demonstrate successfully managing change.

Key responsibilities

  • The function is currently undergoing major transformation whilst making exciting improvements that have a big impact on the overall performance of the company.
  • Leading the implementation and roll-out of a new MRP system.
  • Develop a Supply Chain function that is flexible, pro-active, robust and capable of supporting the demanding requirements of our customers.
  • Comfortable communicating at board level with the capability of leading, influencing and working collaboratively with other departments.
  • A strong understanding of supply chain principles and the ability to apply those skills into a complex and demanding environment.
  • Tenacity to lead initiatives for improvement to continually enhance all aspects of the supply chain function.
  • To prepare and develop a production plan that considers capacity constraints across all disciplines.
  • Ability to develop and grow strong partnerships with suppliers to gain a better understanding of their capacity constraints to improve their flexibility.
  • Capable of leading and nurturing discussions with our portfolio of Blue Chip Customers across all levels of their organisation.
  • Departmental budget creation and control.
  • Lead improvement activities on internal/external transportation.
  • Development and reporting of KPI to the senior leadership team.
  • Comply with all relevant legislation to ensure a safe and effective workplace is maintained.

Preferred Experience/Skills

  • Experience of a fast-moving manufacturing environment, ideally in an engineered product environment working to tight deadlines and demanding quality standards.
  • Proven leadership with a “can do attitude” and not averse to change.
  • Excellent communicator with strong analytical skills.
  • MRP system implementation.
  • Degree in relevant discipline or a related subject.
