Job Details

A global technology company with aggressive expansion plans and a clear vision for the future has created a brand-new IT Procurement Manager - Carrier Relations role to bolster its existing Procurement function.

Reporting to the newly appointed Head of Procurement, you will manage global telecom carrier relationships, local access providers, aggregators and services providers to deliver cost of goods sold (COGS) reduction across buy and sell side, worth $60-80m across 200+ carriers. 

Working within a fast-paced and high-performing team, this impactful role will see you have a direct input on cost reduction, revenue and strategic goals as the company continues to grow. 

As IT Procurement Manager – Carrier Relations your key responsibilities will be:

  • Proactively negotiating, managing and rationalising commercial relationships with carrier providers, including daily, weekly, and monthly communication, deal-making and negotiation, contract negotiation, strategic direction, buying and selling
  • Negotiating prices and deal structures and ensuring favourable positioning of the company’s products and services with other local and international carriers where possible
  • Carrying out all necessary studies, analysis and cost calculations to minimise the cost of off-net international connectivity and local access whilst also increasing our revenues and margins.
  • Driving for an optimised cost base by implementing innovative business models with carriers and service partners to achieve cost of goods sold saving targets 
  • Keeping abreast of the market environment changes, identifying and onboarding/offboarding new/existing providers for driving cost reduction and performance improvement
  • Collaborating with the commercial finance and sales account teams for enterprise bid management and ensuring best price-performance solutions
  • Supporting escalation to carriers/service partners when necessary
  • Creation, maintenance and oversight of carrier and partner accounts with eyes on cash flows, invoicing, “special terms” and contractual SLA’s

Skills and experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience
  • Minimum 8+ years of experience from global telecom field with focus on third party / regional service partner and cost management 
  • Demonstrable record of delivering EBITDA savings and value for money
  • Strong negotiation and commercial/contractual management skills including multi-jurisdictional environments
  • Good understanding of telecom networks and technology cost drivers
  • Commercially astute, accurate and strong problem-solving skills with a flexible and positive approach to changing and conflicting priorities 
  • Excellent in written and spoken English.
