Ardagh Group operates 56 metal and glass production facilities in 12 countries, employing 16,000+ people and have global sales of approximately $7bn. Ardagh Procurement is responsible for sourcing ~€4 bn worth of goods and services, supplying all production facilities, 5 Business Units and Group Functions. The position holder will be accountable for sourcing Capex equipment with an approximate spend of €50 million globally and will report into the the Global Manager - Capex and Spares.

Strategy

  • Help create and implement Global procurement strategies that are innovative, cost-effective, and incorporate the growing complexities and challenges within industry
  • Accountable for delivery of exceptional financial results (cost and cash) as well as agreed non-financial KPIs
  • Build long-term relationships with vendors in the industry

Operational Management

  • Lead/orchestrate negotiations and tenders in Capex Sourcing
  • Compare bid proposals for price and specifications
  • Negotiate with vendors to reduce costs, improve cash, reduce demand and improve our CO2 footprint
  • Review contract specifications on behalf of the company
  • Communicate with vendors to ensure that the product arrives in a timely fashion and in full
  • Support transformational activities to build procurement organizational capabilities and improve procurement efficiency
  • Prepare weekly and monthly procurement reports
  • Ensure adherence to all safety, health, and environmental rules and regulations
  • Develop cross-functional way of working and align team skills to stakeholders’ expertise
  • Provide input and influences the use and development of key e-tools e.g. contract management, spend and transaction reporting
  • Execute as an active partner by providing innovative solutions
  • Drive the development of new market opportunities, new ways of working by integrating new technologies (digital etc.)
  • Identify, develop and manage strategic business relationships to enable implementation of Ardagh’s strategy, revenue growth and new product development initiatives
  • Support the Budget preparation process

Business Partnering

  • Ensure proper business partnering with Bev operations teams and Engineering globally
  • Ensure with Regional Procurement Heads, the proper operational Business partnering in countries & regions

General

  • Demonstrate commitment to the Ardagh core values through upholding our standards of business conduct, complying with Group policies and procedures, and leading by example
  • Ensure the execution of key internal controls within the area of responsibility

Key Deliverables

  • Manage suppliers ensuring compliance and best in class commercial value (cost and cash) and world class supplies
  • Partner with strategic Capex suppliers so that Ardagh will be ‘customer of choice’ for their innovative solutions enabling transformational value creation impacting top and bottom line and solutions that support Ardagh’s environmental and social objectives
  • Identify opportunities and solutions for ‘buying better and buying less/spending smart’ by working in close collaboration with the budget owners
  • Take the lead on the full RFQ process including final negotiations to deliver best cost / best value to the business.
  • Permanent market research, identification of new challengers but as well supplier development with the objective to create more competition
  •  Support the plants with invoice queries, but as well potential claims.

Requirements

  • 5 years experience in Capex Procurement, Commercial, Technical, Mechanical Background
  • Sold experience of working in a virtual team, proven ability to work in a cross - functional team in a multicultural organisation.  
  • Excellent Strategic Sourcing and category management skills
  • Effective communication and influencing skills, ability to convince and persuade others
  • Problem solver with a strong analytical mindset
  • High level of business and financial acumen
  • Ability to think globally and act locally combining strategic thinking and excellence in execution with strong accountability and responsibility for achieving results
  • Resilience and ability to prioritise when facing conflicting demands and high workload
  • Strong and proven negotiation skills
  • Excellent MS-Office skills
  • SAP skills
  • Fluency in English
