Have you begun a career as an FM Category Buyer? Would you be excited about taking on a newly created role? Do you understand that creating value is more than just cost saving?  If so then a role as our FM Category Buyer could be the role for you. 

As our Category buyer you will be responsible for appointing and managing the vendors within the FM categories, including hard and soft facilities, waste services and professional services. You will provide support to our operational teams, so excellent communication skills are required as you'll be working with a variety of stakeholders on a day to day. You'll need to be familiar with applying category management principles to risk assess markets and vendors and to identify opportunities in order to derive best quality and value.

This role is a great opportunity to work closely with our Head of Procurement on a day-to-day basis and develop your procurement career. You'll be joining a growing and fun business in a newly created role, so it also represents the chance to really make the role your own as we add new processes and procedure. You'll have a great commercial acumen, balanced with an appreciation for creating value as well as cost saving in contracts, as you'll need to negotiate regularly with our vendors.  

Main responsibilities

  • Manage vendors and products within the FM categories
  • Supports the operational, property and capex teams on all matters related to the categories.
  • Develops supplier relationships and on-going negotiations for the assigned product or service category using procurement tools
  • Produce procurement plans collaboratively with stakeholders and customers
  • Provides budgetary oversight and delivers cashable savings and other financial/non-financial benefits against target.

Skills & Experience required

  • Degree and preferably, CIPS qualification
  • Extensive experience of FM or major refurbishment programmes
  • Stakeholder engagement experience
  • Must have end-to-end RFI and tender expertise
  • Ability to analyse contracts related to the categories
  • Experience of working with main procurement software packages.
