A leading global Pharmaceutical business is looking for a Category Manager - Software & Digital, with a spend up to £100m

You will take leadership on identified categories on both a Global and Regional basis and be accountable and responsible for developing and executing the category strategies and drive multi-year transformation delivery value.

Key goals of the role include:

  • Be fully accountable and responsible for the leadership of identified categories on either a fully Global or Global & Regional basis. 
  • Develop, execute and be accountable for Category Strategies that are aligned with business requirements, provide short, medium and long term focus and generate market-leading deliverables
  • Be accountable and responsible for managing key stakeholder relationships within the identified categories up to and including EC-1 (SVP and below)
  • Support the Global Head of Category through the leadership of key additional Regional/Global activities within their Tower e.g. Regional leadership/oversight of the wider Tower
  • Work with Global Head of Category, Global Category Leads and Global/Regional Procurement Leaders and team members to execute the functional strategy

Job Responsibilities

  • Lead Global/Regional sourcing initiatives with accountability to work with the Business Units/Functional Areas & key stakeholders to deliver industry leading value and relevant functional, business and performance objectives through the use of a wide range of value levers
  • Develop, execute and be accountable for Category Strategies that are aligned with business requirements, provide short, medium and long term focus and generate market-leading deliverables
  • Engage with key stakeholders in order to generate ideas and opportunities and ensure the Category strategy and plans are aligned to functional and business targets
  • Apply leading tools & techniques to segment suppliers for the category, understand supplier performance, analyse market trends & constraints and deliver a broad range of value chain initiatives to improve performance, reliability, quality and life cycle costs
  • Champion TCO reductions and ensure annual value delivery objectives for the Strategic Procurement of assigned category are met
  • Determine and continually monitor current supply market position in the specific category spend area to identify risks. Recommend actions to mitigate risks.
  • Lead Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) programme for the category and ensure participating suppliers deliver value beyond price objectives
  • Establish Marketing and Stakeholder Engagement plans in order to create positive working relationships with senior global stakeholders; leveraging these relationships to influence and win support for Procurement transformation
  • Support the Global Head of Category through the leadership of key additional Regional/Global activities within their Tower
  • Be recognized as the Category expertise for the Category and utilize this knowledge to act as a ‘Change Agent’ for implementing new commercial models and ways of working
  • Requires travelling between the London and Leiden office

Qualification

  • 8+ years of experience as category manager
  • Advanced sourcing toolkit and supply base management
  • Evidence of developing innovative commercial solutions using a wide range of value levers
  • Strong understanding of Category Strategy formulation and execution and the different approaches to be applied to different kinds of spend & supply markets
