The position within the project structure will start during the finalization of the FID process for an offshore wind farm project, and will last until final commissioning and close out of the contracts.

The position reports on a day to day basis to the Commercial Director of the project, and liaises with other members of the project team as required, such as Package Managers, Project Engineers, Legal team, Installation and Construction leads etc.

The main tasks of the job holder include:

During finalization of contract negotiations and potential additional tender processes:

·         To prepare and proceed to necessary updates of the contract in accordance with Project procedures and TOTAL's standards, in coordination with relevant team members;

·         To provide support for the preparation and issuance of instructions to tenderers, of non-disclosure agreements and to follow-up clarification requests with tenderers;

·         To clarify with tenderers proposed contractual qualifications as the case may be;

·         To provide support for the preparation of tender evaluation and selection reports;

·         To support and follow up due diligence matters with relevant Project entities and tenderers;

·         To provide support for the preparation of other contracts required for the Project upon request;

During contract execution phase:

·         To follow up contractor's rights and obligations, analyze contractual risks and opportunities and propose associated action plans;

·         To prepare, negotiate and evaluate-exchange orders, currency exchange order instructions and order requests as the case May be, in coordination with Project team members;

·         To support the analyzes and evaluation of commercial claims and the implementation of counter-claims mechanisms;

·         To prepare and / or review letters and minutes of meeting;

·         To liaise with legal, tax, insurance, cost control, planning and operational teams for all matters affecting the contract;

·         To ensure contractual awareness of team members.

The Contract Manager shall demonstrate exemplary behavior with regards to HSE rules, and shall ensure that all activities he / she is responsible for, or involved in, are performed with the highest level of consideration to HSE risk management, protection of human's health, respect of various communities and care of environment.

The Contract Manager shall promote safety awareness at all levels through exemplary and pro-active attitude within Project team and Contractor / subcontractors / vendors' team.

Quality: The job holder shall ensure that all activities he / she is responsible for, or involved in, are performed with the highest level of consideration to Project Quality Policy and management system. He / she is directly responsible for highlighting any deviation to the Project Quality Policy in order to ensure that the Project is achieved in full compliance to TOTAL Quality standards

Context and Environment

The Contract Manager will be supporting Total's growth of offshore wind activities, within a wider task force of professionals coming from the Offshore Wind and the Exploration and Production Business Units.
The Contract Manager will be seconded into a project teams based in the UK in order to support Total's UK offshore wind developments.
It is expected the Contract Manager will join an international multidisciplinary team, and so flexibility and the ability to adapt to people from different backgrounds is key.

Required profile

The Contract Manager will be part of TOTAL's offshore wind team. Within the project team, the main focus of the role will be negotiating and managing significant supply chain contracts during the project execution phase of offshore wind farms in the UK.   The position will require a university degree or equivalent level of education, preferably in legal, general engineering, technical or commercial qualification. The candidate will demonstrate a broad based technical background and first class negotiations skills. The position requires relevant experience in contract management environment, with at least 10 years of demonstrable contracting / procurement management experience.
The successful candidate will be required to demonstrate that they have the following capabilities:

  • Knowledge of FIDIC and LOGIC contracts.
  • Lead and supervise all commercial aspects in tendering and contracting phase.
  • Strong commercial contract and negotiation skills.
  • Strong manager and team player, with the ability to influence over a wide network of co-worker relationships.
  • Strong self-performance management and delivery focus with the ability to balance conflicting requirements of quality, cost and time and make decisions in tight timescales.
  • Be results-oriented, able to meet tight deadlines and produce concise information for senior management
  • Excellent organization skills with the ability to manage own workload, meet timescales and coordinate a number of external and internal stakeholders,
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to enable effective discussion and transfer of information between, contractors, team members and other stakeholders,
  • Excellent knowledge of English (written and spoken),
  • Ability to work as a member of a large, multidisciplinary and international team,
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office.
