Exciting Procurement Manager role with the opportunity to set up a Procurement function in this growing Services company…

The Procurement Manager – Directs & Indirects will be responsible for building a centralised Procurement function in line with business requirements for all categories that incorporate the successful operational running of the building and grounds including all services, on-going maintenance and improvements.  As Procurement Manager you will also build relationships with stakeholders and communicate benefits of moving to a centralised function that delivers value for money, minimises risk, evaluates performance of suppliers and build performance improvement plans. In addition, implement rationalisation of suppliers and develop procurement strategies across all areas of the business.

Responsibilities:

  • In collaboration with key stakeholders/Dept Heads, agree strategy to move from local purchasing to a central procurement function, including, but not limited to, maintenance /repairs, security, cleaning, lighting, roofing and car park management
  • Take ownership of on-going relationships with suppliers, focussing on spend and performance
  • Set clear goals for cost savings, increased efficiencies and supplier performance improvement
  • In conjunction with Finance, drive and implement automation of P2P system
  • Identify and make justification of areas of spend that would benefit from being outsourced
  • Utilise understanding of industry supplier dynamics and market trends to determine sources of leverage
  • Identify, manage and mitigate commercial risks and issues to support the delivery for a robust and effective procurement service
  • Source new suppliers where appropriate, ensuring that they conform to any industry regulations
  • Structure and lead commercial negotiations to ensure value for money is constantly achieved with the most appropriate supplier partners

Experience:

  • A demonstrable background in Procurement/Category Management in a variety of industry sectors and categories (ideally within Direct and Indirect procurement)
  • Experience in setting up a Procurement function from scratch
  • Experience in negotiating critical contracts whilst minimising business risk and maximising commercial benefit through scale and relationships
  • Solid understanding of supplier management including the ability to analyse performance metrics
  • Experience in the formulisation and implementation of category strategies including supplier assessment, due diligence and on-going management
  • Demonstrable experience of stakeholder management and experience of communicating the benefits of a procurement function to stakeholders.
