Financial Crime Operations Manager (Financial Crime Due Diligence)

About the Role
We are looking for a Financial Crime Due Diligence Manager to take responsibility for identifying, understanding and mitigating the financial crime and reputational risks involved in entering new business relationships and maintaining/expanding existing relationships across correspondent banking. You will manage a team of individuals and take accountability for end-to-end due diligence processes at all stages of the customer lifecycle.

Candidates should have a proven track record in financial crime with a focus on correspondent banking due diligence across varied types regulated financial institutions. Candidates should have sound knowledge of correspondent banking services; strong technical and regulatory knowledge across financial crime within the UK and a firm understanding of how to identify and mitigate risks within a business. Candidates must be passionate about the success of their team and be willing to take on new challenges and ways of working.
Core Skills and Experience:
· Assess the effectiveness of financial crime frameworks implemented within varied types of financial institutions.
· Provide strong technical and financial crime regulatory guidance and knowledge on how to mitigate and control for risk to internal and external stakeholders.
· Interpret regulatory/industry guidance and apply requirements to different regulated entity types and business models (investment firms, MSBs, merchant acquirers, payment processors, cryptocurrency, prepaid cards etc).
· Ability to recognise key risk indicators and proactively resolve recurring issues and streamline processes with various business departments and stakeholders.
· Manage competing priorities to include the client onboarding experience, expectations and communications as well as all scheduled and trigger based due diligence reviews for Financial Institutions of all risk levels.
· Coordinate the onboarding and inflight process, including the collection of client information required to complete the due diligence profile (at varying risk levels).
· Handle decision making associated with PEP, Sanction & Enforcement alerts at onboarding and in-life.
· Present recommendations on clients, to include exit/decline, supported by comprehensive assessments on financial crime risks and outcomes of investigations.
· Assist with the development of internal quality control frameworks to ensure due diligence recommendations are of a high-standard and aligned to Regulatory and internal policy standards.
· Take ownership of department procedures and implement system and process improvements.
· Ensure accurate and timely management information reporting.
· Provide training and guidance to direct reports, assisting with their learning and development.
· Maintain knowledge of all applicable Financial Crime legislation, regulatory changes and industry best practice.
· Work closely with 2nd line on due diligence, PEP, sanction and enforcement matters.
· Provide subject matter knowledge and expertise to the business.
· Build and maintain relationships with stakeholders across the business to meet role objectives and deliver key activities.
· Support the wider Financial Crime Operations Team and others with ad hoc requests, projects or routine duties.
· Act as a delegate for Head of Financial Crime Operations as and when required
