Reporting into the General Manager, this role would suit a driven, energetic and talented Logistics Operations Manager who has aspirations to make their mark within a highly demanding, driven B2B in-house business.

Please note that this role is a night shift position - working 10pm to 6am weekdays.

This position will manage BOTH warehouse & transport operations on behalf of a medium sized business.

THE ROLE:

  • Manage Warehouse Operations Team - including Pick/Pack, Despatch, Inbound and Inventory - approximately 40 heads within the warehouse.
  • Responsible for a multi-drop Transport operation (own fleet of 25 vehicles) + Carrier Management/Sub-Contraction Management.
  • This is a front-foot, hands-on senior management position that will liaise with the shop-floor.
  • Coaching, engaging and management of your people.
  • Use of data to drive decisions.
  • Liaising with clients both in the UK & abroad who have high standards and strive for excellence.
  • Adopt and foster a 'Change Mentality' and inspire other people to take the same approach.
  • Getting involved with operational projects - including layout design & Process Improvement Initiatives.
  • Make recommendations to the leadership about proposed Logistics changes.
  • Stepping in to cover for the General Manager when they are out of the business.
  • This position is basically a de-facto 'Deputy General Manager' role.

THE PERSON:

  • Exposure as an Logistics Manager within a Logistics or Supply Chain setting.
  • Able to work night shift on a weekday basis.
  • Management of 50+ people across both concurrent Warehouse & Transport Operations.
  • Decent experience of warehouse & transport operations - understand what you are talking about when liaising with the operations teams.
  • 'Can-Do' mentality - this site prides itself on people who take a 'front-foot' mentality to problems & challenges.
  • This position will be Customer-facing as the business pride themselves on their front-foot Customer Service & Client Liaison.
  • Able to work within a highly dynamic 'can-do business'. This role will be highly exciting but also highly demanding.
  • Ownership and pride in what you deliver.
  • Able to grasp the wide breadth of the business and get involved with whatever areas need improving.
  • Clear and effective communicator.
  • Able to liase with Board-level to shop-floor level colleagues.
  • Able to think beyond the obvious.
  • Open to new ideas and with a viewpoint that 'anything is possible'.
