My client in Hertfordshire are a global leader in the design and manufacturing of machinery and their head-office in Royston are seeking a Purchasing Assistant to join their Purchasing team on a 3 month contract basis.

You will be responsible in supporting the distribution and logistical supply of products, through optimum customer service solutions to both internal and external customers.

Purchasing Assistant Responsibilities:

Process orders from the sales and design team
Place purchase orders - paper and electronic
Chase and follow up on orders to ensure materials are prepared and shipped
Carry out quotation requests for materials that go through PPAP (Pre-Production Approval Process)
Maintain strong working relationships with their suppliers
Identify new, cost effective suppliers where applicable
Work closely with the design and manufacturing teams to get correct products and prices for customers
Perform administrative and paperwork duties

Purchasing Assistant Requirements:

Previous experience in some form of Purchasing / Purchasing Assistant role
Previous experience in using SAP is essential as you will have to sue this on a daily basis
Good negotiating skills - These will be used and tested regularly
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office including Word and Excel
Must be able to interpret and understand Engineering drawings
Great communication and written skills
Clear communicator and excellent telephone manner
