Procurement Engagement & Messaging Leader

  • Real Estate (including Workplace Services and Real Estate Technology and Innovation)
  • Technology and External Content Sourcing
  • Travel, Meetings & Events and Brand, Marketing and Communications Sourcing
  • Talent Procurement.

The opportunity

This is a great opportunity to be a part of Procurement’s ELT and assist in helping to build Procurement’s future talent engagement vision and overall strategy to meet the needs of our people now and beyond.

Your key responsibilities

The Procurement Engagement and Messaging Leader will be responsible for developing and driving Procurement’s People Engagement and Messaging strategy and providing leading practices in the area of People Engagement.

The incumbent will possess a deep understanding of the business needs and strategy of Procurement; understand how to translate these needs into relevant people initiatives and work to ensure successful implementation of key, high-touch people processes and initiatives, aligned with the business strategies.

Key responsibilities include:

Engagement: The Engagement and Messaging Leader will be responsible for running Procurement’s Regional Engagement Liaison (REL) program which is a key element of the talent strategy. The REL program is made up on 21 Regional groups headed up by a REL leader located in each region with the key objectives of:

  • Playing a central role in contributing and disseminating Procurement's vision and overall strategy
  • Relaying feedback back up to the CLT on behalf of the Regions represented
  • Supporting open, honest two-way communication between all categories within Procurement and enable cross-category collaboration within the REL community
  • Key part of Procurement’s engagement strategy in bringing our teams together, networking and feeling part of a bigger family outside of their category groups

Other engagement programs include our mentoring program, onboarding new joiners and playing a key role in the annual Global People Survey analysis and go-forward actions.

Learning & Development: for our people to continually develop and have the skills necessary for meeting the demands of today and for the future, there must be a robust and value adding L&D program in place. This must be refreshed every year by working closely with the talent function to ensure it is meeting the needs of our people and focused on the right skills that are required as well as ensuring mandatory learning is completed across the team.

Performance & Recognition: celebrating our people’s success through Procurement and across recognition programs is a key element in our People Engagement strategy. Excellence in Motion (EiM - Procurement’s led recognition program) is run twice per year through the Procurement Enablement team. Another important area is playing a central role in the annual performance review, working closely with talent to ensure the process is a smooth running as possible and appropriate communications are sent out. This is an area that requires definite improvement and a better approach for both our onshore and GDS team members.

Knowledge Insights: managing our external procurement knowledge providers such as Procurement Leaders, Gartner and the Hackett Group. As well as managing our knowledge strategy to ensure key articles and industry updates are appropriately distributed across Procurement.

Messaging: work closely with the CPO, BMC support and Procurement Enablement Leader to develop and manage the key messaging strategy for Procurement including CLT, ELT, Family calls, Stakeholder messaging, etc.

Skills and attributes for success

  • An experienced Talent professional with a minimum of 8-10 years relevant experience in an HR Generalist/ Business Partner role
  • Strong proficiency in the following competencies:
    • ability to manage multiple priorities; thrive in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment
    • strong business acumen;
    • relationship-building skills
    • able to operate effectively and independently in a new environment; using good judgement and experience to support decision-making
  • Excellent communication and networking skills - building relationships with all levels within Procurement is key

  • Proactively develop others; see learning and development as a critical input to delivering exceptional client service; seek to inspire;
  • Is innovative and creative, identifying and implementing ideas that deliver competitor advantage- Ability to problem-solve, improve and streamline recruitment processes;
  • A strong team player, comfortable working collaboratively, virtually and independently

To qualify for the role, you must have

  • Bachelor’s Degree required. BS or BA in Human Resources and/or Communications preferred
  • Experience in a cross-border role, successfully managing multiple complex projects at a global level
  • Good understanding of the Procurement business, key stakeholders and influencers
  • Experience managing global teams
  • Ability to build trust across many cultures
  • Outstanding communication abilities and experience.
