Head of Global Procurement

The company operates a category and business driven procurement function operating across four main countries: situated globally. The Procurement function is structured as a matrix organisation with centralised leadership for direct and indirect category area.

The purpose of the role of Head of Global Procurement is to actively participate in the strategic sourcing activities for one or more categories of spend, with the goal of achieving significant cost reductions, while maintaining/improving product quality and vendor service levels. This candidate will lead a global team and control directly the results achieved with a strong intervention power in case of under-performing results. Working closely with key stakeholders in member organisations and in corporate functions to develop effective cost reduction strategies and implementation plans.

This role has responsibility for developing a global category strategy for a significant element of indirect spend. Using expertise in that spend area, the incumbent will identify company requirements and work with colleagues in all regions to identify the best way of using third parties to meet those requirements.

What the role involves:

1. Take ownership of the vendor selection and negotiation process ensuring best value received from suppliers.
2. Manage strategic sourcing projects applying relevant methodology. 
3. Provide team members with direction and support throughout the steps and activities of the strategic sourcing projects.
4. Lead supplier selection. Develop negotiation strategy. Participate in/lead fact based negotiations
5. Provide global leadership for one or more significant spend category on a global basis.
6. Remain current with market trends through relationships with vendors and market experts

The person we hope to find:

1. BA required with MBA preferred; other graduate degree potentially acceptable or equivalent combination of education and work experience
2. Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply (CIPS) certification desirable
3. Previous experience within Procurement ideally for indirect services.
4. Exceptional problem-solving and analytical skills
5. Distinctive leadership – willingness to challenge “conventional” thinking
