Buyer - up to £40,000 per annum - Progression and good benefits

A Buyer is required to work for a world leading, forward thinking University. They are innovative and cutting edge as well as one of Europe's most entrepreneurial universities who enable high quality research through a broad range of social, policy and economic impacts.

You will provide professional purchasing services and commercial expertise to all the University's internal customers as well as working with Purchasing Managers in identifying category management and supplier relationship management opportunities.

Responsibilities

Work with Purchasing Managers to develop strategies

Coordinate and action high value/high risk tendering processes

Interface with internal customers

Structure the results of negotiations and liase with suppliers in amending and agreeing contracts

Monitor market prices against contractual agreements

Lead the implementation of University wide agreements for your category area

Represent the University and its needs on several higher education procurement networks

Experience required

Experience of tendering high value agreements and negotiating with suppliers

Experience of building strong relationships with customers internally and externally

Excellent computer skills and analytical skilss

Some experience of implementing category management plans
