A super opportunity has arisen for an experienced Buyer to join one of my key Bradford clients within the FMCG purchasing team. The ideal candidate will be keen to learn and develop within the team, and will have the drive to make a difference.

The role is focused on providing the manufacturing operations with optimum stock availability. This is achieved through timely delivery of all required raw materials, necessary to meet the production & sales plan. Liaising & negotiating with the existing supplier base will be a fundamental part of this role, to improve / maximise supplier terms, whilst also developing new product lines across the supply chain.

Main duties

  • Monitor material demand versus inventory consumption, managing flow limits, including packaging
  • Raise/place orders with suppliers for required raw materials
  • Expedite all suppliers due/ late deliveries
  • Maintain Supplier Price lists
  • New supplier  introduction – quarterly supplier reviews
  • Present issues and solutions to suppliers, customers and/or fellow employees in a way that if necessary changes perception.
  • Compile & manage all key purchased material specifications.
  • Source new suppliers and challenge the status quo
  • Assess production schedules, forecast and purchase to meet production plan
  • Maintain system to monitor Stocks levels & replenishment timing for ad-hoc items

Essential Criteria

  • Candidates must have at least 2 years’ experience in a Purchasing/Buyer role.
  • A high level of commitment, initiative, and self-motivation are essential in this role.
  • Good communication and persuasion skills
  • The ability to work largely unsupervised and independently are pre requisites of the job.
  • Must be pro-active and be decisive.
  • Able to use Microsoft Office and show enthusiasm to learn in-house software systems.
  • Intermediate to Advanced Excel Skills.
  • Ability to demonstrate a positive approach towards change.

Desirable

  • Experience in a manufacturing/FMCG organisation desirable.
  • Intermediate Excel skills to manage forecasting and KPI supplier performance reporting.
  • Ability to demonstrate commitment to process improvements
