Do you want the challenge of taking a transactionally based procurement function and turning this into a fully commercial and forward thinking category managed procurement department?

My client are a very recognised organisation who are in the middle of major change for the whole business.  As part of this change they are transforming their procurement to one that delivers ambitious new commercial and procurement strategy.

This is a newly created position to take ownership over the creation and implementation of the new Category driven procurement department and to manage the existing team.  You will manage the team through the period of change management and will be responsible for the upskilling of the existing work force.  You will manage a headcount of seven staff in procurement and inventory management.

Overall you will have complete ownership of £25M spend, with approximately 80% of this spend being on direct materials and engineering services.

To be successful in this role it is essential that you can build effective collaborative relationships with your direct team, the wider business and with stakeholders at the highest level within the business.  As the journey of the new look of procurement is yet to begin, the business is not yet engaged with the upcoming change.  It is essential you are able to build very strong and highly effective working business and supplier relationships.

Key responsibilities

Manage spend with third parties

Deliver commercial and strategic procurement

Identify, develop and deliver strategic supplier relationships

Create and support the delivery of a category managed procurement environment

Leading and developing the existing procurement team.

Safeguarding against contractual and commercial risk

Successfully managing change management within the business.

To be successful in this role you will:

Have demonstrable experience of delivering procurement change management at a high level.

Experience of delivering a Category Management approach to procurement and upskilling an existing procurement team.

Be able to influence and to conduct presentations at Executive level.

Experience with UK and EU procurement regulations and OJEU would be advantageous although not essential.
