The Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) is the UK's primary competition and consumer authority. The CMA works to promote competition for the benefit of consumers, both within and outside the UK. We have teams based in in London, Edinburgh, Belfast and Cardiff and are continuing to expand.

As a result of this ongoing expansion, we have an exciting opportunity for a Principal Commercial Manager to join our small but busy commercial team. The successful candidate will play a key role leading the development, roll-out and management of improved contract and supplier management processes and manage key operational relationships, securing continuous improvement and cost reduction, whilst minimising operational risk.

In this role, you will work across a variety of spend categories, including People Services, Technology, Corporate, Buildings and Market Research, and your key responsibilities will include:

  • Providing expert advice and support to the business on a wide range of commercial areas
  • Managing strategic supplier relationships
  • Ensuring that low value procurement is undertaken in a compliant way across the business
  • Supporting the management of supplier under performance and taking a leading role in dispute resolution
  • Developing contract management and category managements strategies.

To be successful in this role, you will need extensive knowledge and experience of contract management, strong knowledge and experience of supplier management, commercial contracting and public procurement and highly effective influencing, negotiation and communication skills
