Here at Human Appeal we have an exciting opportunity for a Head of Global Procurement and Logistics to join our Finance and Services department based at our Head Office in Cheadle, Greater Manchester. You will join us on a full time basis as part of an initial 1 year fixed term contract and in return you will receive a competitive salary of £44-49k per annum.

Human Appeal is a faith-based charity that aims to abolish poverty by providing humanitarian aid, sustainable development programs and championing advocacy for our beneficiaries worldwide.

Key duties and responsibilities of our Head of Global Procurement and Logistics:

- Develop the supply, logistics and procurement strategy and monitor its implementation at the UK Head Office and Human Appeal Field Offices globally (Iraq, Lebanon, Palestine, Pakistan, Somalia, Syria, Turkey, Yemen) to meet organisational objectives and enable a positive step change within the charity

- Promote procurement best practice and standard processes throughout Human Appeal, and identify opportunities to improve processes and systems to enable service excellence and a positive step change within the charity

- Manage the sourcing process including tendering, contracting and negotiation to ensure, as well as developing a Preferred Suppliers List for key products and services to enable easy access to vital service providers, adhering to global sanctions policies

- Ensure procurement provides quality products and services, to deliver value for money

- Identify and implement saving opportunities for Human Appeal operations globally to help maximize annual income by minimizing major expenditures

- Ensure all regulatory, import and export requirements are met. Ensure tax exemptions are processed promptly for imported or exported supplies from Human Appeal Offices to meet legal and compliance needs. Ensure international shipments are customs cleared, and maintain excellent standards of record keeping to safeguard the charity from any international breaches

What we’re looking for in our Head of Global Procurement and Logistics:

- Degree-educated in a relevant field such as Economics, Business Administration or similar. Ideally holding Chartered Institute of Purchasing & Supply (CIPS) qualification

- At least 5 years’ management experience, with excellent interpersonal, coaching and team-building skills

- At least 10 years’ experience working in a Procurement and Logistics remit, ideally in a global capacity

- Highly organised and computer literate, with an ability to multitask and manage a busy workload

- Passionate about international development work and humanitarian aid
