Buyer, York, From £24,000 up to £28,000 depending on experience

Working for a well-established and unique organisation with an office based on the outskirts of York, this is an excellent opportunity for a candidate with some experience in Buying/Purchasing to take the next step in their career. Your new role....

Initially the role will focus on purchasing activities but will then develop as time goes on and will become a multi-functional role that will effectively act as an Operations Coordinator within the team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to expand their skills in a broad range of tasks within a diverse and dynamic environment.

- Management of the purchasing lifecycle
- Estimating and calculating costs on projects
- Procurement of parts and materials
- Raising request for quotations
- Negotiating on cost and lead times
- Sending purchase orders and chasing suppliers for response
- Receipt of goods and ensuring invoices and other paperwork are processed
- Stock Control to ensure parts are available when needed
- Minimising risk of obsolete stock holding
- Management of supplier performance
- Managing costs and achieving cost saving when possible
- Sourcing new suppliers when required
- Reporting on stock and purchasing and forecasting
- Liaison with production and design teams and ensuring the status of projects is communicated clearly

Your experience, skills and abilities....
Ideally you will have experience of working in a manufacturing environment driven by lead times, quality, and cost and a proven track record of attention to detail and keeping a series of project running simultaneously.

Strong IT skills with experience of Microsoft Office and ERP/MRP systems will be key, as will the ability to work under pressure. It would be advantageous to have experience liaising with UK based and international suppliers and some flexibility with travel from time to time.

You will be a bright, aspiring and focused individual with a professional approach and experience working in a purchasing or operations role. You will have excellent communication skills and will be looking for a role in which you can build your career over the long term.
