We are recruiting a talented and experienced Category Manager to join a company based outside of Wetherby around LS24.

You will be working with a well established company with a great reputation for offering excellent benefits and creating a good working environment.

The successful applicant will be responsible for the development and implementation of effective strategies across all sub-categories. You will be the person providing a single point of accountability, so a high degree of product and market focus is required to constantly drive improvement.

The Category Manager would develop strategies to benefit the company by working closely with internal and external stakeholders.

You will be the person in the know; responsible for ensuring that relationships are developed, and effective leverage applied to the customer base in order to achieve targets.

You will ensure that suitable measures of performance, contracts, analysis and supply chain risk management is always effective and continually improved.

This role calls for someone who can work with a wide range of clients. You will be building upon existing relationships and creating new ones. Providing a solid and measurable category strategy fills your time and you will be mindful of consumer/shopper insights to drive growth for key customers.

You will be a tenacious manager with solid and measurable experience within FMCG and CPG industries and will be comfortable being the face-to-face representative for the company.

The package is expected to be between £50,000 and £60,000 per year. A car allowance is available, or generous mileage. We would expect you to be office based 1 to 2 days per week and visiting clients and working from home at other times.

What’s involved?

Developing and delivering plans with your FMCG clients.

Identifying your client’s needs, planning initiatives, delivering to targets and SLAs and measuring your results.

Increasing sales and profits through good client management.

Managing the full range of products.

Being aware of and totally managing and delivering seasonal needs.

Reviewing seasonal needs with your customers at the right times of the year to ensure production and delivery to schedule.

Reporting back to the management and production teams to ensure delivery on time, every time.

Working closely with your customers to review merchandising and point of sale.

Tracking performance of each product and category

Providing top-level analytics, using Excel to manage trends, seasonal requirements and order-aheads.

About you.

You’ll have worked in a similar role previously.

You will happily take full responsibility for the collation and analysis of category data both qualitative and quantitative.

You will liaise effortlessly and influentially with customers and be able to speak to buyers to build understanding and nurture relationships.

You will consider internal costs of managing suppliers and supply chains.

You will understand how the costs of poor quality affect delivery performance.

You’ll be someone who will anticipate problems, solve them and seek information to ensure the same issues do not reoccur; you will be someone who is driven by devising reasoned and seasoned solutions

You will understand Kantar and data insights and will know how to work with IRI and big data.

You will understand the variety of client databases available and how they fit in with your own ways of working.

You’ll be numerate and analytical and will ask why and how.

You will be a strong relationship builder and your communication - face-to-face, written and presentation skills - will be second to none.

You will be naturally very analytical in your approach to work.

You will have the flexibility to travel to clients, work at the office or work from home when required.

You will hold a current full driving licence and have your own car.

Ideally you will have a degree or will be time-served in a similar role.

Package

Anticipated between £50,000 and £60,000 but there is room here to negotiate to match current proven package - it is more important for us to get the right person for the role.
