Salary: up to £40,000 plus Bonus Package

Hours: Mon-Fri, 09:00-17:00

Role Purpose:

As Regional Fleet Operations Manager, you will play an integral part in the overall management of the company fleet and will be required to ensure optimum cost-effective business support, vehicle management and compliance. The post holder will interface directly with the business and all supply contractors to provide a governed support service to the highest possible standards. Whilst managing and maintaining the fleet vehicles with the minimum downtime on a day to day basis, you will also be called upon to support the acquisition & implementation of all fleet assets into the business within agreed timelines & budgetary constraints as well as investigate & provide innovation solutions to enhance the continued development of the fleet.

The post holder is expected to keep up to date with evolving transport legislation and support the business operation in accordance changes as required and support protection of the company Operator License and ensure all related legal standards are sustainably retained.

Success Criteria:

The role is a key within the Express business as it manages the Operational Fleet needs with the supply of suitable and cost-effective vehicles & MHE equipment solutions. As Regional Fleet Operations Manager you are required to ensure that the commercial vehicle fleet including ancillary items, e.g. tail lifts and plant such as fork lift trucks are maintained to legal statutory, manufacturer & company requirements.

Specific Role Challenges (key focus areas/challenges expected for post holder):

·Ensure all asset acquisitions are implemented in a timely manner in line with business & outgoing vehicle contract demands. 

·Carefully considered management of outgoing contract end fleet assets to minimum costs.

·Management control of external suppliers to ensure cost effective controls and support are maintained at all times.

·Ensure effective Legal Transport Compliance and process related Audits are carried out in a timely manner. All deliverable outputs escalated to the correct levels within the organisation.

Process:

·Carry out internal Audits to effectively measure and challenge continued compliance standards within the business.

·Continued focus and cost management of all vehicle related expenditure; particular attention to non-contract costs in respect of vehicle accident damage.

·Support Go Green initiatives from a fleet department perspective, responsibility for the exploration of Fleet related innovation opportunities at all levels within the industry spectrum. 

·Assist the Fleet Director with vehicle specification & asset acquisition methods to achieve the most cost effective & practical solutions to meet the business requirements.

·The acquisition and delivery of all fleet related equipment in line with contract and business demands. 

·Produce & deliver year on year cost reduction initiatives in line with targeted parameters whilst maintaining the highest quality of service to the business.

·Ensure that all new and future vehicle technologies that will potentially enhance either or both the companies P&L & Corporate Image are fully investigated and introduced where applicable in a proactive manor.

·Work closely with the Field Operations teams and assist them with vehicle-based solutions for all day to day going forward needs & future project initiatives.

·Support specification reviews of all fleet equipment and advise on recommended changes to enhance the Fleet profile whilst operating within budgeted constraints.

·Support the creation of on-going fleet related BCA requirements.

·To carry out scheduled audits to ensure Operators License retention and compliance in line with both business & legal legislation.

·To control, monitor and manage fleet related costs in line with budget requirements.

·Investigate unusual vehicle failure or damage and recommend actions for prevention and remedial action.

·Provide technical support and guidance to the business, providing solutions to any potential issues and problems.

Customer/Stakeholder:

·Proactive and continued engagement of the internal customer at all levels within the Express business.

·Proactive and continued engagement of external suppliers at all levels in support of the Express business.

·To actively manage suppliers in accordance with Service Level Agreement (SLA) documents.

·To negotiate supply agreements with service providers for the supply of cost effective repair and maintenance

Skills/Capabilities:

·Good all-round understanding of Microsoft Office applications.

·Ability to communicate effectively with management at all levels of the organisation both internally & externally

·Ability to collate and interpret analytical information and investigate findings and draw structured and reasoned conclusions. Act in support of business needs.

·Ability to embrace organisational / departmental change and develop new strategies / targets to actively support and delivery in an ever changing working environment.

·Ability to break down problems & issues and identify positive and deliverable solutions.

·Able to provide Engineering expertise in support of both current and going forward business expectations.

·Good communication and negotiation skills in order to challenge and manage effective fleet costs.

Education/Qualifications:

·Transport Management CPC holder (or commitment to obtain within 12 months of accepting role).

·Industry recognised qualifications in support of the above: (City Guilds, BTEC, HNC, HND or equivalent)

Experience:

·Time served Engineer or direct Operational Transport experience.

·Minimum 5 years’ experience within managerial role.
