£45k pa, taxable in St Helena; a tax free International Supplement will also apply

Join the Corporate Procurement team and help deliver a solid platform for commercial governance and compliance, whilst building a framework for future strategic relationships to drive innovation and performance.

A sub-tropical island of spectacular and beautiful landscapes in the South Atlantic with a warm and friendly population of 4,500, St Helena is a self-governing overseas territory of the UK. Following the opening of its international airport in October 2017, St Helena is better placed to develop both economically and socially.

You will support delivery of the Contract Management Strategy and framework using a risk based approach in accordance with CIPS and the National Audit Office Best Practice, working closely with all government directorates and stakeholders including business operations, performance, legal, finance and audit. Offering oversight and governance of external supplier management you will act as PoC for their services, reviewing performance and identifying areas of improvement. Helping to identify opportunities to align services across business units and functions for operational synergies you will develop systems and processes in line with the NAO Best Practice Guide.

Holding a Bachelor’s degree in business or a procurement-related field and preferably CIPS qualified, you are a proven leader with excellent stakeholder management skills, able to influence at senior level.

With a strong commercial background and a grasp of sourcing and supplier management, you understand the principles and application of supplier risk management and the legal and compliance requirements for interactions between legal entities within and outside the government. You will need to know English Contract Law and Government procurement regulations and have a background in supplier and contract management.

In addition you will use your diverse expertise and experiences to ensure your time on the Island has the broadest benefit to St Helena.  As a Technical Co-Operation Officer you will be expected to share your knowledge and skills beyond the workplace contributing to workforce, community and capacity development in St Helena.

We offer an extensive benefits package with 30 days leave pa, fare paid travel, freight, pension contribution and relocation allowance (see overseas vacancy information). An application form can be found at www.sthelenacareers.co.uk  where further information can also be found, or you may contact Kedell Worboys on 0203 818 7610 or email: shgukrep@sthelenagov.com.

Applications must be received by 25 November 2019. Interviews will be held in London.

Due to the potential for high numbers of applications, if you have not heard from us within 2 weeks of the closing date you should assume you have not been short listed.  We would like to thank you for your interest in working for the St Helena Government.
