Clark Resources are currently assisting our client, a leading Ground Investigation Contractor in sourcing a full time Operations Manager to join the existing team.


Our ideal candidate would be an experienced individual with knowledge of ground investigations and delivering drilling services including but not limited to water wells, mineral investigations, site investigations.

The role will include working closely with office management and drill crews to ensure the companies best interests are achieved in all our site operations.

Your ability to adapt and overcome the daily challenges of running multiple drilling operations is essential to your success in the role.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Attend site walkovers and meetings
  • Prepare and review health and safety documentation prior to mobilisation
  • Set out and manage all site operations in the field
  • Prioritise your time effectively to oversee all site operations
  • Manage site and client expectations
  • Monitor production rates
  • Give guidance and update senior management on production rates and completion timescales
  • Ensure site completion records are completed and the client is happy with all activities undertaken
  • Limited remote working is envisaged as part of this role but is not a regular feature

Essential:

  • Knowledge of modern drilling practices, techniques and equipment
  • Current site management and planning experience
  • Experience of current health and safety management legislation
  • Ability to supervise drilling crews
  • Organisation of site operations
  • Project planning abilities
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • An understanding of the financial implications of site operations verses tendered expectations
  • Full driving licence
  • Ability to set out site borehole locations
  • Client liaison skills

Highly desirable:

  • CSCS card
  • NEBOSH/IOSH qualifications
  • Laboratory testing knowledge
  • Sampling and in-situ testing regimes to current standards
  • IT skills
  • CAT & Genny trained
  • Engineering/Earth Science qualifications
  • Experience in the Scottish ground investigation/drilling industry
  • Technical knowledge of machinery
