Quest Search & Selection are partnering with this omni-channel, award winning, specialist food retailer.
This unique role is looking for a Fresh Food /Meat Buyer to join their retail buying and category management team. You will be responsible for the commercial performance of the category and with developing their ranges and value-added products within the farms and abattoirs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Own and develop ranges that reflect the company's mid to high end market position.
- Develop a category strategy and maximize the potential for the meat and poultry ranges.
- Interact and weekly visits to the Meat retail counters with the stores
- Daily interaction with Butchers, Abattoirs and suppliers
- Identifying and execute NPD / new product development opportunities
- Bring innovation through new ideas to keep up with market trends
- Develop strong supplier relationships within egg and fish categories
To be successful in this position you must -
- Buyer experience within a retail, manufacturing or supplier side
- You MUST have fresh food or Meat experience as a category
- Be able to travel between stores, head office and stores in London and their production site in Gloucestershire/Oxfordshire.
- Strong leadership skills, experience in fresh food ideally within meats from either retail, wholesale or foodservice.
- Good negotiation and supplier management skills are needed.
- Be able to work under pressure in a faced paced environment
- Have a good understanding of the buying cycle of meat and/or poultry.
