The better you manage our finances, the better we make children’s lives.

Bluebell Wood is a place as magical as its name. We’re here to help families make the most amazing memories, and we provide a home from home in the toughest of times. The children who stay with us have a wonderful time in our soft play area and six acres of gardens, and can experience arts and crafts, music therapy and many more activities during their stay. We provide specialist medical care both at the hospice and to support families in their own homes. Many people who haven’t visited us think a hospice is a sad place but at Bluebell Wood, this couldn't be further from the truth, and we make the very most of each moment.

It takes £11,000 a day to keep our doors open, and only around 10% of our funding comes from the government – so your effective financial management will help to keep us making memories. You’ll strengthen our Strategic Leadership Team and shape the way we work, delivering a wealth of fresh ideas across HR, IT, Governance, Facilities & Estates and Administration. Our passionate operational teams will look to you for inspiration and guidance, and you’ll build enduring bridges with other organisations supporting young people’s palliative care.

Most importantly, you will ensure that our finances are managed efficiently and effectively, including statutory accounting, management reporting and regulatory compliance. You’ll also drive excellence in service delivery and set some stretching performance targets, so we need someone exceptional. An experienced and strategic operations professional, you’ll bring excellent understanding of accounting and finance and ideally some knowledge of the charitable sector. If you’re a qualified accountant, so much the better, but it’s your commitment to our vital mission and your determination to make things happen that will matter most.

In return, we offer flexible working arrangements in a unique, relaxed and welcoming environment, a generous pension scheme, enhanced healthcare benefits, subsidised meals and 33 days’ annual leave (including bank holidays). However, your biggest reward will be helping us make children and families smile in the most difficult of circumstances.

If you’re interested in using your professional skills to really make a difference to children and families, then we would love to hear from you.
