National Operational Risk Manager

Location: Redditch, Worcestershire
Salary: £40K + Company Car
Contract: Full Time, Permanent

Carpet & Flooring has grown into one of the largest independent distributors of floor covering products - stocking and supplying products from Europe’s leading flooring manufacturers. Our Head Office is based in the Midlands and we have 10 Nationwide branches.

We are recruiting now for a National Operational Risk Manager based in Redditch.

This position provides operational health, safety and environmental support to a number of branches nationwide to enable functional alignment

About the National Operational Risk Manager Role:

You will have accountability for supporting the delivery of Health, Safety and any Environmental responsibilities as well as business risk, the identification, communication, escalation and provision of advice.

You will also guide all aspects of operational health and safety and the environment affecting people, product, property and as well as any regulatory requirements.

The role is a key conduit in the company’s governance arrangements and is central to ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations.

As our National Operational Risk Manager, you will be responsible for:

  • Drive H&S and associated operational change over the business
  • Provide continuous improvement in all areas of Risk Management through benchmarking and best practice
  • To continually deliver support across the business to capitalise on opportunity, implement risk controls, minimise liability exposure and contain cost.
  • Analyse, consolidate, interpret and produce management reports, communicating key monthly and quarterly performance metrics
  • Establish local plans in partnership with the business which will enable effective risk mitigation
  • Develop and maintain centralised management system tools, processes and measures in line with relevant standards and procedures.
  • To effect successful local or regional implementation of new or changed requirements in line with Carpet & Flooring policy, standards, laws and regulations.
  • Continual monitoring and evaluation of changes to legal, regulatory and industry best practice.
  • Provide tools and, where appropriate develop and deliver training material / courses.
  • Facilitate and / or conduct risk assessments and control testing to determine the effectiveness of internal controls.

Knowledge, Experience and Qualification Required:

Essential:

  • Professional qualifications to NEBOSH Diploma level or equivalent
  • Substantial experience in both Health, Safety and Environmental management
  • Demonstrable track record of delivering organisational performance improvements in terms of culture and risk management.
  • Strong communication and influencing skills so as to be able to articulate technical requirements to non-technical audiences.
  • Be computer literate (MS Word, PPT, Excel)

Desirable:

  • Knowledge and experience of implementing ISO14001 and OHSAS 45001
  • Subject matter expertise - Health and Safety, Risk Management, Environmental.
  • Considerable knowledge and experience gained in a similar role with a multi-site organisation of similar size
  • Warehousing & logistics management knowledge and experience
