One of London's boroughs in the Middlesex area has an opportunity for a Category Manager - to look at Construction spend across the borough.

This will require someone who has worked on OJEU regulations as all services will be of this ilk. Reporting into the Head of procurement, you will help to implement category strategies to turn the function into a more commercially focused team.

Role and responsibilities:

Help move the function into a more commercially focussed team rather than BAU contract management
Report into and support the Head of Procurement to improve the function
End to end procurement process, from initial identification, sourcing, to continuous relationship management / re-negotiation
Use a strategic approach on all current and upcoming projects
Sell the benefits of using procurement internally to the key members of the business
Proactively look at current spend and offer alternative methods / suppliers for improvement and cost savings
Cross functional strategy implementationExperience and requirements:

Ideally you will have come from a government body, council or borough
Strategic procurement experience across relevant categories
Proven achievements in cost savings or improved service delivery to the business
Ideally some exposure to all, or at least one of the following categories
Ideally some multinational stakeholder management / supplier sourcing
Management of individual categories, taking on full end to end projects
Able to communicate confidently at a senior level
