Senior Buyer / Category Manager | Blue Chip Organisation| Nottingham | £45,000 + Car Allowance

We're working with one of Nottingham's leading blue chip organisations to recruit for a senior buyer, with operational and strategic responsibility across broad range of categories and stakeholders to deliver our clients vision for social and environmental responsibility, industry leading technology and excellent customer satisfaction.

If you're a strategic buyer or category manager with more than five years' experience across a broad portfolio of industries and commodities, I'd love to tell you more about this fantastic opportunity.

Responsibilities:

The ultimate goal of the Senior Buyer will be to create and deliver strategic category management plans for each of the commodities they're responsible for, ensuring security and quality of supply as well as value for money. You will also work closely with the procurement manager to develop the broader team strategy for procurement activity.

You will work closely with internal stakeholders to manage all indirect spend, liaising with them to ensure that procurement projects are managed closely and effectively to ensure a consisted delivery of service, improving awareness and education where required.

You will be responsible for the identification and delivery of benefits from tactical activity with suppliers including specification, reviews RFPs, tenders and price negotiations. You will also lead on the selection process for suppliers, including qualification of alternative sources, supply base rationalisation as well as an overall desire to optimise the supply base.

You will also be responsible for ensuring that clear legal contracts are approved and in place with each significant supplier and that these are adhered to and supplier performance is closely managed.

Requirements:

For this position, we need a really strong senior buyer, someone who's worked at a strategic level across different industries or commodities, with a willingness to get involved with operational procurement.

You will have line management responsibility for one junior buyer, so experience at management level before or a desire to progress to management will be beneficial.

We need someone with five years' experience, minimum, at a strategic level and a full MCIPS qualification.
