Fixed Term Contract: 12 months
A leading manufacturing company based in the Abergavenny area are recruiting for a Purchaser/ Buyer to join their Procurement department for at least 12 months.
The role involves the purchasing of materials, the objective being able to deliver a supply base capable of supporting the operation effectively and efficiently, ensuring on-time delivery, appropriate costs and quality to be able to provide excellent service as a business.
You will have excellent influencing abilities, a very high level of integrity and be able to maintain and manage excellent relationships with suppliers and other internal departments.
Benefits:
Competitive salary of between £25,000 and £27,000
Hours of work: Monday to Thursday – 8am to 4.30pm; Friday 8am – 3pm.

About the Role
* The research and review of the supply market in order to identify potential cost savings.
* Sourcing of additional suppliers to reduce procurement risk ensuring implementation and maintenance of minimum and maximum levels to support business needs.
* Managing supplier relationships in a professional and effective manner, ensuring quality communication.
* The resolution of order queries both internally and with suppliers.
* The progressing of orders with suppliers to ensure on-time deliveries and chasing overdue deliveries where appropriate.
* Benchmarking and negotiation of products with a focus on reducing cost.
* Researching and reviewing of the supply chain in order to identify potential suppliers with the capability to support.
* Managing day-to-day supplier relationships in a professional and effective manner.
* Ensuring supplier quality performance in conjunction with the quality department.
* Monitor manufacturing demand/allocation in line with customer forecast and manage requirement with the most cost-efficient outcome.
* Working closely with the Supply Chain Manager and the Purchasing team.
* Investigating new projects requirements in an effective manner ensuring business will be supported.
* Monitor manufacturing demand/Allocation in line with customer forecast and manage requirement with the most cost-efficient outcome.
* Ensure housekeeping standards are maintained to agreed standards to reduce waste and sustain efficient working practices.
* Reduce cost and increase efficiency within the supply chain.
* Minimise raw material inventory levels and ensure all raw material demand is accurate and available for manufacturing.
* Formulation of sourcing strategies to meet the needs of the business.
* Implement and maintain internal control procedures.
Essential Skills and experience
* Experience in a buying or purchasing role within the manufacturing/ engineering industry
* Understanding how to forecast materials needed long term and for projects
* Experience of dealing with suppliers directly in regard to purchasing requirements
* Able to influence and negotiate price to reduce overall costs
* Identifying new suppliers that could offer potential cost savings
* Able to work to KPI’s
* Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
* Proven ability to Benchmark prices
* Numerical Analysis
* Microsoft package (Essential)
