Assistant Enterprise Manager –Retail Operations

Dove House Hospice is a dedicated service supporting patients with life limiting illnesses. Providing a range of therapies, services and support, we aim to shine light into the darkest days within a comfortable and caring environment.

We have now created the Humber Wood Recycling Project, in partnership with the National Community Wood Recycling Project (NCWRP), to reduce wood waste, save resources and create training, volunteering and workplace opportunities for people within the local community.

The Humber Wood Recycling Project is a self-funding enterprise that reclaims and reuses wood waste that is primarily generated by the construction industry. The aim is to send nothing to landfill while providing vital opportunities to local people and particularly those who can be considered disadvantaged or marginalised from the labour market.

We’re seeking an Assistant Enterprise Manager to join us and work on the Humber Wood Recycling Project.

Your Role

As the Assistant Enterprise Manager, you will play a key role in driving the project forwards, ensuring the wellbeing of staff and volunteers and delivering success.

Working closely with the Enterprise Manager, you will help to steer the project in its primary objective of reducing wood waste and providing meaningful work for staff and volunteers. You will ensure the business is profitable and integrated with other Dove House Hospice trading initiatives, generating profit and transferring it to the Hospice so our great community work can continue.

Your role will also include:

- Assisting in the day-to-day management of the project
- Supporting the achievement of sales targets
- Inspiring great customer service
- Helping to plan a comprehensive collections and delivery service
- Producing creative, saleable items such as planters, tables, benches and coat hooks
- Playing an active role in the delivery of a health and safety focused workplace for all

Your role will involve carrying out heavy manual handling tasks.

About You

To be considered as the Assistant Enterprise Manager, you will need:

- Proven experience in woodwork or joinery
- Team management experience
- Strong health and safety awareness
- To be competent with power and hand tools
- Good attention to detail with a focus on creating high quality products
- An excellent understanding of carpentry techniques and methods of construction
- An interest in environmental issues and recycling
- A full, clean, driving licence
- A CSCS certification (Construction Skills Certification Scheme) card or the willingness to obtain this

Experience in retail and/or of operating an EPOS till would be beneficial to your application.
