Our client is a global powerhouse in the engineering sector and currently supplies many of the major OEM's across the world with innovative technology solutions.

We are currently looking to recruit an experienced commodity buyer, who will become responsible for ensuring that the company work with the best suppliers from across the world, procuring on price and quality.

Key duties and responsibilities:

  • As part of the purchasing team, be involved in setting commodity strategy, managing the supplier panel and building action plans to execute the strategy.
  • Identify savings for the business over a long-term basis, reviewing new and existing suppliers, negotiating terms and building productive relationships.
  • Ensuring that supplier contracts reflect all areas of the relationship.
  • Working to agreed KPI's, focused on quality, delivery of service and budgets.

Skills/experience required:

  • Degree or equivalent education level, ideally in engineering or relevant commercial field.
  • Previous experience in purchasing commodities, ideally within the technology/engineering/automotive sector (preferred).
  • Good working knowledge of purchasing procedures.

  • Negotiation skills/ability to build strong supplier relationships.
  • Goal oriented, problem solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Team worker.
  • Able to travel to supplier sites (overseas and UK).
