We run our business by these values and they are reflected in all of our roles.  Job purpose: Our Manual Shift Manager is responsible for the smooth running of the manual sortation shift. You will be responsible for managing a team of Hub Warehouse Operatives in ensuring that all parcels and packets are sorted correctly. These parcels could be awkward shapes, poorly or mislabelled so you must have an eye for detail and the ability to train this in to your shift. About the Role: You’ll be joining a team of Shift Managers in the Hub who specialise in different parts of our Operation. You will be responsible for managing your First Line Managers and indirectly their teams as they process and sort parcels of all shapes and sizes. You will be responsible for motivating your staff, problem solving on a day to day basis and ensuring that the operation runs smoothly across your shift and you provide a detailed hand over to your following Shift Manager. As our Manual Volume Shift Manager, you'll report in to the Warehouse Operations Managers and you will be pivotal in providing leadership and direction to your shift. Some of your responsibilities will be to brief and debrief your shift to ensure that all instructions are understood and actioned. The Shift Manager is fully accountable for the performance of the shift whilst proactively seeking ways to improve cost, service & operational efficiency. You will ensure all resources including third party are managed, planned and controlled to achieve the agreed service levels. Our Manual Volume Manager job is for someone who understands how to motivate staff and is able to efficiently prioritise pressing needs, where there isn’t an obvious solution. Lateral and original thinking would be a benefit as would logistics experience but we are open to experience gained in other related fields. You must be able to work collaboratively and take the lead on projects amongst your peers. Experience/Qualifications: Management experience of leading and managing a team Must be able to work on own initiative in a pressurised environment to tight deadlines PC Literate with a working knowledge of Microsoft office Good communicator and able to influence at all levels Flexible approach to work to meet business requirementsResponsibilities: Manage a team of Direct Reports and a team of indirect reports providing leadership and direction for the shift Develop and train direct reports and ensure SLA’s are hit for the shift Ensure compliance with all site HSES rules and regulations Generate and process BI and MI reports based on work output of your shift Manage individual project priorities, deadlines and deliverables.Benefits: Bonus 24 Days Holiday entitlement + Bank Holidays Opt in benefits“To all recruitment agencies: Hermes does not accept agency resumes.
