Category Specialist, Indirects

This well-known UK based brand is going through an exciting Procurement and Commercial Transformation and as a result is growing the team and hiring a Category Specialist.

Reporting to the Senior Category Manager, this role will give you the autonomy to work across a diverse range of indirect services and be part of the management team.

The Procurement & Commercial Team spans 50 members and has some fantastic opportunities to develop within the business. There is an opportunity to sponsor CIPS studies and other professional accreditation’s.

What the role involves:

1. Leveraging a range of suppliers to get the best commercial price for the business and work autonomously in doing so
2. Execute category strategy across indirect services
3. Look at supplier rationalisation and ways to optimise supplier performance
4. Share best procurement practice with the client (typically in an immature procurement environment
5. Identify opportunities for cost savings across the business and supporting them in all procurement decision making

The person we hope to find:

1. Solid procurement buying experience across direct or indirect services
2. Excellent communication skills and able to work with all levels of management and stakeholders
3. Good analytical and problem-solving skills
4. Well organised, process and team-oriented with the ability to prioritise quickly
5. Highly motivated self-starter; ability to initiate and manage work with minimal supervision
6. Commercially aware and financially astute
7. Degree Educated desirable but not essential
