We are looking to speak to commercial candidates with background as a Buyer or Category Management who would like to be part of a new team with one of the UK leading retailers .We are looking for high calibre candidates who can lead the thinking and inspire others, to deliver tactical plans that step change performance and deliver for the customer

As a Category Management Supplier Negotiation Coach, your key challenge will be to deliver added value to each of the teams you support via the strong relationships you build and the motivational and creative skills you employ. You will accelerate your learning and through real thought leadership, you will strive to challenge the status quo and keep the customer central to all negotiation plans

Key Responsibilities

Leads the thinking through coaching and stretching the ambition of trading teams to develop profitable customer led recommendations and the related supplier negotiation for all category suppliers, in order to maximise value for the business.
Ensures rigour and quality of customer and financial inputs into the process and leads/coaches the trading teams to draw out insights to determine opportunities and trade-offs, whilst ensuring the customer offer is not compromised and remains customer led.
Opportunity to input to the ongoing development of supplier negotiation planning best practice and process integration with other key supplier processes to embed enhanced best practice and improve supplier negotiation capability within the Commercial function

The ability to coach in a dynamic commercial environment to empower, motivate and inspire the delivery of world class category management objectives and the related supplier negotiation plans through others, because you understand the category customers, market and suppliers and the challenges that the customer is facing into
You will have a proven track record in a commercially-focused role e.g Buyer / Category Manager (minimum 3 years ) along with negotiation experience with cross category suppliers, ideally in retail and FMCG businesses.
The ability to inspire, coach and engage others. You will also be a first-class relationship manager and project manager with great, all-round communication and influencing skills, which when combined with your strong analytical and numerate skills you have the ability to create a narrative from analysis and insights, with a high degree of customer focus.This role is a 9 month fixed term contract. You won't have the guarantee of a permanent role at the end of it however the company will always look to keep great people and this is your way in to the big name retailer. This will be a great way to build your credibility and network for future roles with them internally or to go on to better things.
