A brand new supply chain management role has come up in the Somerset area for a leading automotive company looking for someone to join their dynamic, hands on manufacturing environment.

The ideal candidate will have experience within the supply chain management function within the automotive industry and have experience in working to the demands of the fast paced industry.

The role of the Supply Chain Manager will involve

  • Promote supplier relationship management and actively engage with key suppliers to address issues and identify potential opportunities to further develop collaboration and deliver continuous improvement of supplier performance (e.g. Costs, Service and Quality)
  • procurement activity associated with a designated range of category suppliers
  • Accountability for day to day purchasing activities ensuring that parts are delivered on-time to suit customer requirements. From raising the Purchase order to the delivery of the product into stores ensuring availability for production within the required time-scales to the company
  • Manage a complex multicommodity global supply chain spanning niche volumes through to multi-national automotive conglomerates
    Recruit, manage and develop the supply chain team, including planning, warehouse, logistics and inspection
    Lead and deliver supply chain cost saving initiatives, including re-sourcing where necessary
  • Liaise closely with the customer on their demand schedules and flow these through supply chain
    Manage and develop the organizations demand planning system 
    Manage the stock levels of the operation to within budget and continue to achieve excellence in annual stock-take performance
  • Lead purchase contract negotiations to maximize component cost control and savings
  • Manage the supply of aftermarket parts to a third party provider
  • Ensure continuity of supply to the end customer at all times

  • Significant experience in (preferably automotive) Supply Chain management and will demand the highest standards in quality, efficiency, delivery performance and value for money. 
  • Key to delivering a first-class supply chain function will be the individual’s ability to interface with internal departments and external service providers at all levels in order to foster collaborative practices
    They will take a hands-on approach, lead by example and be driven towards delivery
  • They will be able to quickly assess critical issues affecting the supply chain and provide an appropriate management response
  • They will be a real team player, able to work under pressure to tight deadlines
  • Essential to this role would be:
  • Good planning and commercial skills
  • Confidence in using ERP systems such as BAAN / SAP or an equivalent
  • Membership of an appropriate professional body is desirable

  • Salary: £50000- 55000 + Benefits
