My client is an independent Logistics Service Provider offering a range of warehousing and transportation services throughout the UK. As a growing company they are investing heavily in their people and systems.

As part of the business strategy they are seeking an experienced transport manager to oversee the fleet and compliance for the depot.

Responsibilities

* Management of vehicle and trailers to ensure availability for safety inspections, services, repairs and testing at the appropriate times and within the notified Operating Licence maintenance intervals.

* Driver management ensuring compliance with all drivers’ hours rules, both EU and Domestic, ensuring all drivers record their duty, driving time and rest breaks.

* Overall management of incident investigations and reporting in relation to any vehicle incidents within agreed format and timelines.

* Download and store digital tachograph unit data and drivers’ smart cards, ensuring all records are retained for drivers’ hours, Working Time Directive (WTD).

* Ensure all drivers are adequately trained, competent and have the required licence and qualifications to operate relevant vehicles and equipment.

* Ensuring that all activities meet or improve on budget, cost and efficiency targets (KPIs).

* Management of driver briefing / de-briefing throughout the business.

* Manage the recording and proactive monitoring of improved fuel efficiency within the fleet including the management of tachograph infringements to ensure full compliance.

* Ensuring great relations and communications with the wider team members and responding politely and in a timely fashion to internal and external customers.

Skills

* International Transport Managers’ CPC Qualified.

* IOSH Managing Safely

* Supervisory / Management experience within a logistics environment.

* Knowledge of WTD and RTWD legislation.

* Completion of Foster Tachographs TM CPC Refresher Training (to attend once recruited)

* Experience of managing teams within tight quality and efficiency parameters.

* Experience of people and performance management.

* Previous experience as nominated Transport Manager on an Operator’s Licence

This role is Monday – Friday (45 hours) – occasional weekends as and when required
