Procurement Manager (Highways) - Main Contractor
Permanent / Full Time
Location: Swindon
Salary: Basic up to £65,000 plus Package

Company Summary:

Our client is an integrated highways service provider operating across London the South of England. Their goal is to deliver the best highways solutions within the industry through efficiency, responsibility and a focus on clients and their customers.

Their services include highways term maintenance, street lighting and electrical services, surfacing, traffic management and public realm infrastructure projects.

They help clients to focus on their customers’ needs; using highways solutions based on safety, resident and business needs, asset management and asset improvement.

The role:

Ensure that procurement is delivered as required for the projects as agreed within the project procurement strategy.

Ensure that the subcontractor/supplier selection process has been followed and that all requisite checks have been made, including but not limited to, financial checks, health and safety checks, competency of the organisation and supervision, previous performance scores, database status…

Check subcontract documentation on key trades compiled by the Quantity Surveyor prior to issue.

Audit procurement activity on sites to ensure proper use of term orders and that all relevant processes and strategies are being adhered to.

Generate reports for Senior Management against agreed KPI’s to demonstrate progress toward meeting the objectives and goals of the division.

Contribute to the effective & sustainable management of the companies supply chain, reviewing on-boarding, ensuring performance ratings are carried out, meeting with Supplier’s / Subcontractor’s to discuss performance where required.

Ensure project close outs are held recording commercial outcome of key packages and advising on any lessons to be learnt or refinements required to the procurement processes / documentation.

Continually refine and improve on processes and procedure to ensure that procurement effort is directed where it can bring most value and that continuous improvement is achieved in the value provided to the business by the effective acquisition of goods and services.

To keep up to date with business objectives and internal policy and to work in line with company HSEQS procedures and objectives.

Brief the Head of Procurement on key decisions and any problems. Ensure that the group strategy is delivered.

Participate in business initiatives and internal/external forums as required.

Key Skills and Qualifications:

  • Good level of education, ideally looking to work towards the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (or equivalent).
  • Computer skills (Microsoft packages, Oracle).
  • Excellent organisational, planning and time management skills.
  • Able to work to demanding deadlines.
