Workshop/ Operations Manager (Rail/ Heavy)

£35,000 - £40,000 + Company Benefits

Are you a Workshop or Operations Manager from a Rail or Heavy engineering background looking for a senior technical role where you will have the full responsibility for the entire workshop team?

This is a new permanent role for the business who have shaped the rail industry over the last 100 years and an opportunity to put your own stamp on a growing, thriving business.

On offer is an opportunity to be responsible for the overall organisation, management direction and control of all workshop functional departments and to ensure that production output is maximised.

You will also be responsible to organise and control all production within the factory to achieve all output targets in terms of quantity, quality, unit costs, and customer service requirements.

This company are part of a Global Engineering group and have over 3 sites across the UK. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of an expanding business and long-term opportunities will present themselves throughout the group.

This role would suit a Workshop Manager or Supervisor from a rail or heavy engineering background looking for a senior technical role where you will have the full responsibility for the entire technical and engineering team.

THE ROLE:

* Direct and control all Workshop Engineers to ensure that they are properly motivated, trained and developed, and carry out their responsibilities to the required standards and in accordance with health and safety standards.
* Schedule and co-ordinate all aspect of production operations, to ensure that output and quality & delivery targets are achieved.
* Develop all necessary policies and procedures to ensure that plant and equipment is effectively maintained to ensure maximum production efficiency.
* Assist in negotiating contracts with contractors and suppliers to ensure the cost-effective provision of services to the factory.
* Develop and implement short- and long-term plans to ensure that the factory has the necessary resources to meet business objectives
* Develop effective working relationships with all employees to ensure the maintenance of harmonious employee relations within the factory.

THE PERSON:

* Workshop Management or Supervisor background
* Rail or Heavy engineering background
* Experience with electro-mechanical machinery
