Our client is looking to recruit a highly motivated and enthusiastic Buyer to join their Transitional Procurement Department on a permanent basis. The role is to provide administrative and project support to the Senior Procurement Manager and team in the delivery of the annual work plan ensuring performance to key milestones and agreed key performance indicators are achieved.

Duties will include, but not limited to:

  • Develop and maintain a coordinated approach towards procurement and contract management
  • Promote and use the Trusts oracle Procurement Purchase system, for the transfer of requisitions to purchase orders
  • To ensure value for money is achieved from sourcing & negotiation activities
  • To improve compliance of the Oracle Purchasing system / eProcurement systems
  • To ensure all orders are placed with suppliers Right First Time making the procurement process leaner and more efficient for the
  • Remain Legally Compliant to Standing Financial Instructions and UK legislation at all times
  • To ensure goods are received and therefore payments to suppliers are made in time following the three way matches that will verify
  • Provide end users with guidance and helpdesk support, alongside one-to- one/face-to-face training, as appropriate, on the correct use of procurement systems, policies and processes
  • Create Management Information (MI) reports from procurement systems as required
  • Support in the ongoing analysis, review and management of spend data, identification of new contractual opportunities and update of transactional procurement rolling work plan.
  • Provide cover for other members of the Department during time of absence and where

Ideal Candidate:

  • Experience in Purchasing or Procurement environment
  • NVQ purchasing or procurement modules or studying towards CIPS - desirable
  • Understanding of procurement processes
  • Skills for communication on complex information and administrative matters, requiring developed interpersonal and oral/ written communication skills
  • Ability to pull together comprehensive draft reports, data and letters
  • Ability to understand and work to deadlines
  • Able to prioritise workload
  • Strong organisational skills
  • Negotiating, networking and persuasive skills
  • Experience in a Purchasing P2P Software and processes.
  • Day to day problem solving and working to some extent without supervision

A 'can do', positive attitude is necessary and competent IT skills are a must!
