Technology Procurement Specialist
The mission of the Cost Optimization team is to bring a business mindset to technology spend, ensuring costs are optimized and controlled, investment aligns with strategic goals, and value is realized. This position performs all aspects of procurement for IT including coordinating RFPs, negotiating terms, issuing POs, and maintaining contracts. The successful candidate for this position will be highly organized to meet deadlines, and have an excellent track record of negotiating favorable deals.
Key Responsibilities of the Technology Procurement Specialist
- Manage RFP processes, including vendor identification and vetting.
- Negotiate with vendors to ensure best commercial terms and favorable contracts.
- Oversee all purchasing to ensure appropriate approvals, use of preferred vendors, adherence to budget.
- Generate purchase orders and other necessary documentation.
- Manage technology contracts, including storing contracts, tracking termination and renewal dates.
- Perform risk management for vendor relationships and contracts/agreements.
- Determine best procurement strategies for different technologies, e.g. global v regional suppliers.
- Control technology spend and build a culture of long-term saving on procurement costs.
- Coordinate with other IT teams to ensure compliance with contracts/licensing, and realization of contract benefits.
- Establish vendor segmentation guidelines and proactive meeting cadence to manage critical relationships.
- Work with the team and other procurement specialists to rationalize the portfolio to have fewer vendors operating in the same service area.
- Develop and refine purchasing processes and controls.
- Provide assistance/backup on cost optimization tasks.
- Participate in internal and third party financial audits.
- Handle various assignments from the CIO or senior technologyleadership.
Required Education
Degree in Finance, Accounting, Computer Science, or related field preferred.
