This is an excellent opportunity for a dynamic, forward thinking individual to develop a consultative approach to procurement. You will be working in a growing procurement team that's set to go through a change program. As a Category Manager you will be an integral part of the business to develop a customer-centric procurement function.

We are in search of a highly motivated and charismatic individual who will not be afraid to work with multiple stakeholders. You will be responsible for the delivery of specific procurement projects, while providing an advisory procurement service to the whole of the organisation.

The Procurement Category Manager will lead the Construction & Property Service category.

A commercial thinker with a smart approach to strategy, you'll relish taking overall procurement responsibility for the construction spend category. From leading procurement strategies, to ensuring contractual compliance, you'll help us to deliver the very best for our communities.

As the Procurement Category Manager, you'll help us to keep on providing value for money - and to do it better than ever. Working on a wide and varied range of capital projects, you will drive procurement and contracting strategies, and ensure compliance with processes, procedures and legislation. Recognised for your expertise in construction procurement and contract management, you'll work closely with a wide range of stakeholders and supervise a dedicated Procurement Officer. Crucially, you will share your strategic, commercial and procurement ideas across the Council; influencing practice and making a visible difference.

What you'll need:

> Professional qualification in a relevant field, such as MCIPS
> A project or programme management qualification, such as Prince 2
> Proven experience of working within a construction, facilities management and property category
> Proven experience of working with JCT and NEC contracts is also required
> A skilled analyst of information and assessor of risk, you will have developed, negotiated and managed large, complex capital spend contracts to achieve the best possible value

Salary:
£45,000 - £47,000 FTC - Perm
+ Pension, Excellent Holiday
