Job Details
Everyone here plays a part in protecting London. What about you?
To police and protect an ever-changing city, the Met must also continually transform and evolve. That means we work in a fast-paced setting, where everyone shares the same goal. Together, we help the UK’s largest police service perform at its very best, so it can keep some 8 million Londoners safe every day. As part of our Commercial Services team, you’ll play your part by managing contracts that are vital to how we work.
As a Senior Contract Manager, you’ll have an integral role in Commercial Services. Working with one of our Intelligent Client Functions (ICFs) or Business Groups, you’ll manage a complex and high value Strategic (Platinum) supplier. It’s a chance to hone your skills managing governance and risk, resolving issues, handling finances and striving for continuous improvement. And all the while, you’ll be working closely with stakeholders to become a trusted commercial advisor who understands business needs.
We’re adopting a lifecycle management approach to delivering services, which means your role is flexible. While you may be managing contracts and supplier relationships day to day, you could also find yourself leading on any aspects of the commercial life cycle – from developing category/contract strategies and managing procurement processes to managing strategic supplier relationships and rolling out commercial and contract management standards across the organisation.
As this is a senior role, you’ll have leadership responsibilities: deputising for the Head of Category and managing a small team. We’re therefore looking for an experienced professional with a track record in contract or category management. You’ll bring a sound grasp of contract law, contract management processes and Public Contract Regulations. You’ll also have applied knowledge of telecoms, networks and other ICT service contracts. Commercially astute, with strong project management abilities, you’ll have the credibility and communication skills to lead, collaborate and negotiate.
Please note that candidates for this role are subject to security vetting.
To apply, please visit our website to download a role-specific information pack and complete an online application form.
Completed applications must be submitted by 23.55pm 14th October 2019.
