Make sure we’re there for London – help the Met secure and manage vital services

To police and protect an ever-changing city, the Met must also continually transform and evolve. That means we work in a fast-paced setting, where everyone shares the same goal. Together, we help the UK’s largest police service perform at its very best, so it can keep some 8 million Londoners safe every day. As part of our Commercial Services team, you’ll play your part by managing categories and suppliers that the Met depends on.

Working with one the Met's Intelligent Client Functions (ICF) or business groups, you will manage Bottleneck and Leverage categories, or help the team with Strategic categories. This involves giving commercial advice on optimum routes to market, delivering sourcing requirements and strategy, and ensuring compliance with all relevant contracts. Every day, you’ll be building relationships with key stakeholders and developing specifications to deliver requirements, working as part of a team.

We’re adopting a lifecycle management approach to delivering services, which means your role is flexible. While you may be managing contracts and supplier relationships day to day, you could also find yourself leading on any aspects of the commercial lifecycle – from developing category/contract strategies and managing procurement processes to managing strategic supplier relationships and rolling out commercial and contract management standards across the organisation.

With a firm grasp of category principals, you’ll be a skilled professional. Articulate and persuasive, you can influence a wide range of people, listen carefully and build strong relationships. Able to deal with senior stakeholders, balance a busy workload and write clear reports, you have the knowledge to make decisions and the efficiency to meet deadlines.

Please note that candidates for this role are subject to security vetting.

To apply, please visit our website to download a role-specific information pack and complete an online application form.

Completed applications must be submitted by 23.55pm 14th October 2019.

Company

UK Policing is transforming the way it delivers services. The ambition is to use digital channels to make the experience of contacting the police as helpful, personal and reassuring as approaching an officer in the street. We plan to create the world’s biggest online police station to serve the British public. But we can’t do it without an experienced Finance & Commercial Manager.
