Role: Reference Data Operations Manager (Technical Lead Team Trading Front Office Data Source Truth MDM Master Data Management Fixed Income Equities Reference Data Buy Side Asset Investment Hedge Fund Wealth Bloomberg Data License Per Security Back Office SQL AWS Production Operations Support) required by our asset management client in London. You will be hired to build a team and production processes, from scratch, for the securities and index reference data space of this international asset manager. You will be the first hire and, over the next 12 months, hire a team of four. You will form one of three managers who will cover engineering, analytics and operations. The area has done a proof of concept for a 3rd party reference data solution and, together with a range of other vendors, such as Bloomberg Data License, Refinitiv, FTSE and S&P aims to build out a single source of truth for reference data. You will collaborate with these two other managers to gradually provide services to the business over the next 12 months with the aim of fully going live in late 2020.

Your first deliverables will be to hire a team of analysts and identify the production processes needed in this space. You will liaise with the engineering and analytics managers to define release and change management processes and to ensure data quality through technology. The role will involve continuous optimization and enhancement with the input of the vendors.

The role will require recent or current buy-side experience and a thorough knowledge of Bloomberg and Bloomberg Data License. You will have some technical ability and be able to interrogate databases if required. The data in this space is broad, but ideally you will come with knowledge of fixed income and equities data. You do not have to come from a technical background. You could come from the business. You will also be able to demonstrate man-management and personal development experience.

You do not have to have experience setting up production operating models for this role. If you have inherited existing processes and teams, you will still be applicable to this position. This, therefore, is an excellent opportunity to build a team and operating model based on your experiences and preferences.

The company is investing heavily in technology and embracing AWS, machine learning and AI. As the department grows, this could therefore mean opportunities to acquire more senior managerial roles and deliver greenfield projects.

Salary: £110k - £140k + 15-20% Bonus + 10% Pension
