Your Responsibilities:
In this role you will join the Global Procurement Centre of Excellent with personal responsibility for Policy, Risk and Compliance across Global Procurement and the Indirects Procurement categories. You will provide strategic leadership, determining the policy, risk and compliance agenda and building an effective operational model which makes the agenda itself practical, achievable and successful. You will be serving a large colleague base of 700+ procurement specialists, so you must be able to establish governance across a wide variety of tasks and processes whilst winning the buy in and commitment of senior leaders across the business. You will collaborate with key Procurement transformation projects as they make changes to GSK’s buying processes and the tools that support them. You will also design, plan and execute changes and improvements in policy, risk and compliance documents, tools and processes. You will contribute to the overall leadership of the Policy, Risk and Compliance group within Global Procurement, and will also manage a team directly with responsibility for their capability development, their career progress and their performance.

Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Providing strategic leadership in determining the policy, risk and compliance agenda across Global Procurement
• Leading relationships with senior stakeholders in central policy, risk & compliance groups such as Global Ethics & Compliance, Audit & Assurance and Quality
• Coaching and mentor Global Procurement Leadership on GSK expectations for effective control of policy, risk and compliance
• Negotiating the role of Global Procurement in Enterprise policy, risk and compliance initiatives
• Shaping Global Procurement approach to executing against the policy, risk and compliance agenda
• Determining an efficient and effective model for how the Policy, Risk & Compliance Team will support execution of the policy, risk and compliance agenda across Global Procurement
• Ensuring good practice in policy, risk and compliance is sustainable and embedded across the Global Procurement organization
• Establishing governance and reporting for the policy, risk and compliance agenda, ensuring clear accountability for management of risks; that leadership understand and fulfill applicable risk reporting requirements; and policy, risk and compliance issues are escalated appropriately
• Lead a team of direct reports and contribute to overall leadership of the Policy, Risk and Compliance Team, such that the team develops fit for purpose capability and experience to drive delivery of Procurement’s policy, risk and compliance agenda

About You:
Excellence in this role will require advanced technical knowledge and capability in procurement, risk management and similar, combined with top class soft skills relevant to high level leadership in a complex business. You will be able to influence senior stakeholders across GSK, coordinating and initiating considerable cross-functional strategies, requiring the commitment and engagement of the leadership population of the business. You will be able to motivate your colleagues and work in productive partnerships, driving positive change and supporting others in their own initiatives. You will be an experienced leader who is comfortable dealing with complexity and ambiguity. You will have the ability to advance the capability of your team, push them to excel and support them as they too implement projects and convey key messages across the organisation.
You will demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills, to present complicated ideas in a compelling and engaging way. This will be coupled with the capability to deal with complex data sets, interpreting and communicating data results to both identify and justify opportunities for change, improvements and for identification of risk possibilities.

Why You?

Basic qualifications:
• Degree qualified in a relevant field including business, procurement, risk management or relevant
• Considerable experience working in a complex, global business
• Practical experience working in procurement, risk management or connected fields
• Demonstrable track record driving performance and change in environments with significant complexity and ambiguity
• Significant experience in highly regulated environments
• Experience as a direct line manager
• Experience influencing people indirectly, in both matrix teams and wider groups
• Demonstrated capabilities and experience in people/team development

Preferred Qualifications:
• Complimentary or higher-level qualifications are beneficial
• Practical experience in supply chain or procurement operations, in a policy, risk, compliance or audit function
• Experience managing strategy and programme execution
• Knowledge or practical experience of the Pharma industry and pharma regulations and standards
• Experience in Procurement or supplier management
