Operations Manager

Plastics Packaging

Based: Port Talbot, South Wales                           £negotiable + benefits + relocation

This is an exciting opportunity to join Berry Global, (RPC, recently acquired by Berry), creating a plastic and recycled packaging industry leader.  This combined successful Group will generate sales in excess of $13 billion p.a. from over 290 operations worldwide.

We are now seeking an ambitious operations/manufacturing professional to join the leadership team at Berry Bebo, in Kenfig, Port Talbot a highly successful site which manufactures coffee capsules and plastic vending for major blue chip, household name beverage companies. The site is well invested and houses the very latest thermoforming machinery, operating on a multi- shift, 24/7 basis.

Reporting to the General Manager, you will assume day to day operational responsibility for the site across production, engineering and technical support, maintaining the site’s strong health and safety culture, which is always first priority. Your challenge will be to deliver maximum efficiencies and optimum production levels, ensuring repeatability and sustainability, leading and engaging the team to identify opportunities for continuous improvement and cost reduction. Key to your success will be your ability to lead, motivate and inspire your team of c80 people (3 directs) to achieve even greater levels of operational efficiency and provide the platform for future growth, innovation and expansion.

Candidates will have a proven operational management background, ideally gained in a plastics/packaging environment, or similar high-volume manufacturing, blue chip organisation.

You will be an accomplished people manager with a technical education and a hands-on approach, able to demonstrate a sound track record of operational improvement.  Six Sigma experience, whilst not essential, would be beneficial.   Energy, enthusiasm, passion and ambition are all prerequisites for this key role.
