A leader in the leisure industry are offering a highly sought-after opportunity for an experienced buyer or supply chain manager. To revolutionise, organise and excel a team of 4 buyers, this FTSE 100 are looking for a driven, enthusiastic and experienced buyer to take that next step into team management. A proven record of team management in any capacity is desirable so if you have successfully managed and developed a team then get in touch.

Similarly, if you have solid Commercial Procurement experience and are wanting to take the next step in your career by managing a larger team then I would love to hear from you! Reporting into the Category Manager, your role will be to manage the team and review the way in which the processes work to meet the needs of the business. The function is largely tactical, but you will have free reign to structure the team and processes in the way you see fit. This is a great opportunity for a Buyer or Senior Buyer who is looking to take on a broader remit with some management responsibility.

As Team Leader on the Purchasing Team, you will be responsible for:

  • Analysing performance data to identify performance trends, savings opportunities and OTIF.
  • Leading the team in the timely and efficient sourcing of requisitions in accordance with relevant business Policies and Procedures, ensuring quality, service level, price and supply logistics meet our commercial and internal customers’ needs.
  • Managing the team against departmental and team objectives. Work with the Category Manager to assist in identifying and supporting the team with their own personal development plans.
  • Coaching the team in respect to operational purchasing best practice.
  • Contributing to, and where necessary leading review meetings with key suppliers utilising fact-based feedback and the effective implementation of KPI’s.
  • Analysing process performance data, product quality feedback and other pertinent operational aspects to identify suppliers for inclusion in the performance development programme.
  • Supporting the Category Manager, running project tenders and making recommendations for supplier award.
  • Promoting a team attitude and providing an environment to encourage communication and sharing of information and lessons learnt within the team and with our stakeholders.
  • Ensuring that all members of the team are effectively led through regular 1:1 feedback, and formal appraisal in accordance with company policies.

Skills and experience required:

Essential:

  • Purchasing experience with previous experience in relevant categories
  • Strong negotiating skills
  • Managing suppliers
  • Commercially astute analyst, a natural problem solver with an understanding of leveraging operating efficiencies
  • Strong process orientation
  • Concise and influential communicator, able to discuss complex issues with clarity and credibility
  • Proven leader able to inspire and drive performance of a small team acting with integrity, and leading by example at all time.

Desirable:

  • Marine Industry experience
  • Experienced in working with category management and sourcing strategies.

  • Proven team management
  • Experience within a role that involves delivery of KPI within a time pressured environment
  • Experience of developing, implementing and improving new processes and best practice
  • Ability to effectively prioritise a demanding workload and support others to do so
  • Good Judgement and decision making.
  • Self-motivated with drive and creativity.
  • Highly PC literate with experience of Microsoft Excel.
