Network Operations Manager - Bristol - Perm - £53k - £58k Per Annum.

The Company
An experienced Network Manager is required by a higher education institution, based in Bristol.

The Role
This position will provide leadership and management of all aspects of the development, provision and operation of the wired and wireless network services, associated network infrastructure and data centre facilities.

Responsibilities
*Develop policies, strategies and plans associated with the provision of network services, network infrastructure and data centre facilities and the presentation of these to relevant stakeholders.
*Manage the Network and Data Centre teams to ensure compliance with service level requirements
*Oversee the support and management of all network solutions and data centre facilities to meet departmental requirements across the whole institution
*Management of all aspects of provision of the wired data network (currently more than 70,000 network circuits, connected to 1500 physical network devices, running in over 400 locations, with a replacement value in excess of £5 million).
*Management of network architecture supporting delivery of all network and internet services.
*Manage the design, development, installation, operation, administration and support of the wired, wireless and passive networks, disaster recovery infrastructure, and data centre facilities which underpin the IT services, including the mission and business critical services.
*Ensure service provision and change decisions are aligned with architectural standards and agreed design principles
*High level input into strategic decision making around the wired, wireless and passive networks, network services, and data centre facilities, ensuring these systems meet the needs of the business
*Permanent member of the IT Services Emergency Management team
*First-line contact for coordination of Emergency responses
*Participate in and/or lead the Emergency Management Team in the event of a real or potential disaster
*Maintain an in-depth knowledge of technology and provide expert advice regarding networks, network technologies (e.g. protocols), and data centre facilities.

Experience Required
*Management of highly skilled, professional technical staff to ensure relevant targets and goals are achieved
*Committed to professional development of staff and to maintain an active involvement in the development of staff skills to meet evolving technical demands.
*Take decisions related to correct staffing levels to ensure services are delivered effectively.
*Develop and improve the capability of staff within their area to ensure they are motivated and able to deliver on current and future needs.

*A degree relevant to IT Services, or vocational experience which demonstrates equivalent professional development
*ITIL v3 Foundation

Desirable
*PRINCE2 Practitioner or Management of Risk (M_o_R) Foundation
