Contract Manager

Our client is an innovative and international Manufacturer with 8,000 employees.  The organisation is recognised for their state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities and their footprint is expanding globally. 

They have an opportunity for a Contract Manager to join their Directs Procurement team.  This is a 12 month fixed term contract but there is a strong likelihood that the contract will be extended or become a permanent job.

The role will focus on suppliers related to mechanical spend and will focus on delivering value from existing commercial arrangements with the supply base.  You will work with suppliers across the globe as well as stakeholders in manufacturing plants across the UK, Europe and Japan.  The business is growing and is looking to expand into North America.

What will you be doing:
• Support effective implementation of contracts agreed with suppliers
• Distribute key contractual data into business systems, including SAP
• Work closely with the Operational purchasing teams and act as a point of escalation with regards to contract issues around service and quality
• Manage contract variations
• Collate data for supplier performance reviews across multiple sites globally
• Lead supplier performance reviews and support on-going risk management around suppliers (financial, capacity reviews, etc)
• Be prepared to do one monthly trip to Europe and potentially one annual trip to Japan

Skills and experience required:
• Contract management experience gained in a Manufacturing company
• Experience in contract management of suppliers related to manufacturing spend
• Strong understand of Contract law and contract drafting
• An appreciation of cost saving methodologies, for example, value engineering, etc
• Experience in using SAP or similar
• Degree calibre
