Warehouse General Manager

We have an exciting new opportunity for a Warehouse General manager for an E commerce/retail company based in Basildon. The ideal candidate will have experience working in a FMCG warehouse environment meeting service and cost targets and providing flexible warehouse support for the growing UK e Commerce business.

This position is not only a fantastic opportunity for a Logistics professional to work within an award winning organisation, it will offer fantastic opportunities to progress to a Director level role within the coming years. Whilst in role you will be tasked with overseeing the duties within the DC and showing business strategy and strong leadership qualities

Reporting to the senior team, the Warehouse General Manager will lead key members of the warehouse management team, ensuring the highest deliverable standards are achieved on a daily basis. Driven by achieving results, you will analyse data and use it to drive the performance of your team.

This role will also include:

• Managing the headcount on site for the Basildon, fluctuating in peak periods.
• Deliver the operational KPI’s for inbound, outbound and putaway through the Warehouse management team.
• Maintaining a cost effective operation whilst driving cost deficiencies.
• Maintaining high levels of customer service across both internal and external parties.
• Being responsible for driving Health & Safety management on site and ensuring the site is fully compliant on all regulations
• Being the interface internally and driving the presence of the Logistics division.
• Strong IT knowledge would be advantageous.
• Previous experience of coaching and mentoring teams at all Operational levels.
• Being the central figure for driving continuous improvement across the operation.
• Keep overall warehouse costs within the budgeted targets
• Ensure stock levels are checked on a perpetual count basis and managed ,and any loss or damages are within the budget targets
• Guarantor of the application of the WMS procedures

The Successful Applicant

The successful candidate for the Warehouse General Manager role will need:

• Demonstrable, solid experience in ecommerce logistics / retail
• Have a minimum 5 years’ experience across a Warehouse/Logistics/ Distribution and Supply Chain background
• Have worked at a Senior Operations Manager / General Manager level previously
• A strong understanding of the technology that supports logistics operations
• Experience of planning, managing and delivering logistics costs to P&L targets
• Demonstrable experience of leading and managing a team
• Strong negotiation skills
• Have managed in excess off 100+ people previously
• Excellent communication skills
• A positive attitude
• A creative mind that always looks for ways to improve
• The ability to be flexible in a fast paced and fast changing environment
